Little is written or recorded about the day-to-day experiences of Africans unless it is part of the news cycle, and even then, it is often a stereotypical picture that lacks any real nuance. This year's Encounters South African International Documentary Festival offers eight films with unique perspectives on issues ranging from LGBTQIA rights to immigration.
