Ahead of Sweden's general election tomorrow, its currency stands as weak against the euro as it was in the global financial crash. In August, the Swedish kronor hit a new nine-year low against the euro, at 9.32 euro cents per kronor, according to figures from the London Academy of Trading (LAT). At the nadir of the global stock market crash in March 2009, the kronor hit a low of 8.48 euro cents per kronor (EUR/SEK 11.788). Murray Gunn, Head of Research for Elliott Wave International's Global Market Perspective, explains that although the Swedish stock market outperformed the eurozone from 2002, it began to underperform the eurozone in 2012.
