KOTA KINABALU: A buffalo intended for Aidiladha sacrifice caused havoc when it broke free of its owner’s house, ran riot in the streets and entered the compound of the Wisma Dixon complex at Likas, near here, yesterday. At one point, the buffalo went wild and rammed an iron fence, part of which broke, catapulted into the air, and struck an onlooker. The Sabah Wildlife Department was later called, and wildlife rangers had to resort to using tranquillisers to sedate the buffalo. Its assistant director Dr Sen Nathan said three tranquilliser darts were shot at the animal before it finally stopped running. The buffalo was later returned to its owner.
