The Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka (CAA) said in a statement that this decision was taken with a view to control the Covid-19 pandemic situation in the country. Furthermore, emergency aircraft diversions to both airports, freight operations, and humanitarian flights would also be allowed. Meanwhile, it was reported that the arrival of Indian officials in Sri Lanka was permitted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. When contacted, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that they would reveal details regarding the incident in the coming days.
