EventForecast models indicate that a heatwave will persist across parts of northern Algeria through at least Aug. 27. Maximum temperatures of around 39-44 C (102-11 F) are possible in the orange warning areas Aug. 26. The extended period of very high temperatures and dry conditions may magnify the potential for wildfires throughout the region. In addition to impacting athletes and those who work outdoors significantly, high temperatures can cause problems for people using mass transit. Commercial trucking disruptions might occur, as very high temperatures put more stress on vehicles and make tire blowouts more common.
