A member of a vocal group performing the Canadian national anthem at the MLB All-Star Game on Tuesday altered the lyrics to include support for the “All Lives Matter” message. While some find All Lives Matter expresses a superior sentiment because of its ostensibly more inclusive message, others disdain it as an attempt to minimize the original sense of outrage behind Black Lives Matter and even imply that the latter phrase represents, rather than decries, racism. Changing it to include "All Lives Matter" is grounds for deportation, IMHO. — Andrew Stoeten (@AndrewStoeten) July 13, 2016The dude who held up the “all lives matter,” sign while his all-white a Capella group butchered the Canadian anthem disgraced two countries. https://t.co/CNJiS8i2Dv — Jeff Passan (@JeffPassan) July 13, 2016Dear Tenors….political statements are to be made on your own time not when you're singing our National Anthem.
