The Otago Daily Times and Allied Press publications featured at the Canon Media Awards in Auckland last night. The Otago Daily Times was a finalist in the newspaper of the year (over 30,000 circulation category) and the Weekend Mix was a finalist in the best inserted magazine section. The Oamaru Mail and The Star in Dunedin were community newspaper finalists. ODT reporter Chris Morris was a finalist in the health and lifestyle feature category and also for feature writer of the year (under 2500 words category). Shane Gilchrist, for the fourth year running, was an arts and entertainment category finalist.
