Alphawave, a Canadian chip designer, was wise not to enlist political support for its £3 billion float. Deliveroo made that mistake in March as it cranked up the hype before its market debut. The chancellor hailed Deliveroo as a “true British tech success story” and a harbinger for Britain’s post-Brexit future. Despite its best lobbying efforts, Deliveroo served up the worst float in living memory.
