Social distancing is killing retail Andrew BusbyThe signs were in my face the moment I stepped into the Bluewater shopping center in Kent yesterday. And not only that, if you transgressed any of the new rules of engagement, there was always a 'social distancing marshal' on hand to administer swift retribution. Strict social distancing measures were in evidence at Bluewater Andrew BusbyBut is this the best route out of lockdown or is there another way? If we continue with social distancing, hand sanitization, one way systems and store occupancy limits, we're embracing a dystopian future which is far removed from any normal human shopping experience. Instead of taking a defensive approach, hoping that the virus won't be transmitted because of hand washing and social distancing, this is an offensive approach to eliminating it.
