In a potentially huge move for Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos and his ever-expanding company, Variety is reporting that Amazon is in talks with Warner Brothers and the J.R.R. Tolkien estate to produce the next adaptation of Lord of the Rings. Only this time, it will be on the small screen instead of the big one. Bezos, who typically stays out of negotiations like this, is said to be a direct part of the talks between Amazon and the two other parties in bringing Tolkien’s classic trilogy to the Amazon streaming service. With the deal still in very early stages, there’s been no word on whether it would be an outright remake or an exploration of other storylines within the Lord of the Rings universe.
