GEORGE TOWN: An ambulance driver who jumped the red light and hit two cars and several motorcycles at Jalan Song Ban Kheng early this month, was charged with careless driving at the magistrate's court today. He was accused of driving an ambulance carelessly to the extent of putting other road users in danger. Chong was charged under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, for inconsiderate and careless driving which carries fine of up to RM10,000 and jail term of up to 12 months. He had also caused other road users damages to their vehicles,” she said. Jamaliah then ordered Chong to pay RM6,000 fine in default of 10 months jail.
