In the District, Merianne and Louis de Merode were among those in the crowd near Lafayette Square on Tuesday. Larry Hogan (R) said Trump’s rhetoric was “the opposite” of what should be coming out of the White House. Lafayette Square across from the White House became the scene of more violent protests as demonstrators and law enforcement clashed. At first, the demonstrators were well separated from the line of security forces guarding the White House.
