Daniel Owen and his 15-year-old son, Cooper, were at Green Jungle Park near the city of Luang Prabang when the incident occurred on Oct. 15, according to the U.K. Times. Phakan Arocavet Clinic, where the pair were first taken to be treated, confirmed the incident in an email to PEOPLE. The father and son were reportedly conscious when they arrived at Phakan Arocavet Clinic and showed no signs of anaphylactic shock. The Times reported that the hornets are the world's largest and are distinct from Asian hornets (Vespa velutina), which are sometimes found in the U.K. and Europe. He and his son Cooper will always be in our memories and prayers," added Adriana Custódio De Souza Paoli.
