To state the obvious, impeachment could hurt President Trump’s chances at re-election, even if he survives a Senate trial, if undecided voters conclude that something is rotten at the heart of his conduct. Or it actually may help him by further energizing his base and convincing some wavering voters he has been wronged. Or, as seems entirely possible in our hyper-divided political state, impeachment may make no difference at all, merely driving voters deeper into the corners where they already reside and splitting the few...
