Inspector General of Police (South Zone) Shailesh Kumar Yadav handing a tablet with mPassport app to a policeman in Madurai on Thursday. Mr. Yadav handed over tablet devices to police personnel from 40 police stations who go for verification of passport applications. Each police station would get three to four tablets pre-loaded with the mobile app which was safe and secure, Mr. Manivanan said. The entire process of police verification would be taken up only through online and paper would be done away with. “If this comes down further, the applicants would get their passports much earlier,” Mr. Prasad said.
