But it’s less than the net worth of many of the career politicians Yang is running against. A friend had a modest test-prep business, so Yang began teaching GMAT classes to prospective business school applicants part-time. Yang and his partners cashed out, selling the company to industry giant Kaplan for “low tens of millions,” Yang said on an episode of the Freakonomics podcast. Even bona fide billionaires, like Tom Steyer, and mere millionaires, like Andrew Yang.
