Mahbubul Islam, the jailer, made the claim on Sunday, refusing media reports that Anick was flogged inside the jail. He [Anick] entered into prison after 7pm [Saturday] when everyone was locked." Anick gave a confessional statement under Section 164 to Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Atikul Islam on Saturday after the end of his 5-day remand. After confessional statement, the prison van carrying Anick reached the Keraniganj jail around 7:30pm. It was reported in some media outlets that he was beaten by some prisoners while entering into prison cell.
