Karthikeyan convened a meeting of officials from the police and revenue departments on Friday. Those responsible for defacing the property will be penalised,” said a senior official of the district election office. No new projectsAs the Model Code of Conduct came into force on Friday, Chennai District Election Office officials asked the civic officials concerned to not commence new civic infrastructure projects in the constituency. Work on various civic projects, such as bridges, that has already started will be allowed to continue, officials said.
