Because of the strong presence of gay and lesbian personalities in mainstream media, swardspeak has infiltrated everyday language. Expressions like “Anyare?”and “Boom, Panis!” helped seal Vice Ganda’s role in shaping popular culture beyond the confines of her television shows. Language is alive—and made even more dynamic by mainstream media.
