Behind closed doors at chip companies, Apple is frequently referred to as a bully and a tyrant. Apple is rumored to be working on its own power-management chip for the iPhone, according to a research note from Bankhaus Lampe published on Tuesday. In the past, Apple has sourced this component from UK-based chip company Dialog Semiconductor. In January, it filed a lawsuit against its cellular modem provider Qualcomm for alleged monopolistic tactics in how it licenses its cellular technology. Some analysts speculate the move comes as Apple may be working on its own cellular chip -- an expensive and complicated piece of technology.
