KUALA LUMPUR: The ringgit closed easier against the US dollar today on firmer buying interest in the greenback. At 6pm, the local unit was quoted at 3.8690/8730 against the US dollar from Friday’s close of 3.8680/8720. The ringgit was also traded lower against a basket of other major currencies. It depreciated against the Singapore dollar to 2.9438/9477 from Friday’s close of 2.9345/9387, and eased against the yen to 3.6108/6149 from 3.6035/6076 last week. It weakened versus the euro to 4.7457/7518 compared to 4.7352/7413 last week, and fell against the British pound to 5.4518/4590 from 5.4195/4266 on Friday.
