Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) has moved a step forward in its €2.4bn Dublin Metro North project after agreeing to pay architects €105,000 to draw up a concept design for the project. Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) has moved a step forward in its €2.4bn Dublin Metro North project after agreeing to pay architects €105,000 to draw up a concept design for the project. This follows TII appointing London-based Grimshaw Architects to carry out the work on the planned underground commuter rail scheme. A total of €700m has been allocated under the Government's present Capital Plan 2016-2021 for planning, design and construction of new Metro North. The funding in the initial years of the Capital Plan is for planning and design work, with construction work commencing in 2021 and passenger services starting in 2027.
