BENTONG: An army corporal pleaded not guilty at the Magistrate’s Court here to seven charges of assaulting several fellow personnel last month. He was charged under Section 325 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum sentence of seven years’ imprisonment and a fine upon conviction. The magistrate set bail at RM7,000 for the first charge with additional condition and fixed May 18 for submissions. The court set bail at RM2,000 per charge and ordered the accused not to approach or contact the victims until the case is concluded. Police had earlier arrested Sukry on March 31 to assist investigations into the assault of seven personnel at a military camp here, in which one victim was seriously injured.
