Kisumu Central MP Joshua Oron has called for the immediate arrest and prosecution of individuals who sponsored and financed the assault on Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi, terming the incident a calculated act of political intimidation. Oron urged security agencies not only to apprehend those captured on CCTV carrying out the assault, but also to pursue the “masterminds” behind it. The MP described the attack as “shameful, cowardly and primitive”, warning that such incidents threaten democracy, the rule of law and the integrity of public service. Oron cautioned against the escalation of political competition into violence, emphasising that leadership contests must remain grounded in persuasion rather than aggression. If we fail, we risk creating an environment where disorder thrives and our city becomes ungovernable,” Oron said.
