After a month-long saga, Suarez was allowed to leave by parent club Barcelona, joining the Gunners on loan until the end of the season, after which there is an option to buy. The versatile winger reunites with Unai Emery, under whom he played in another loan spell at Sevilla in the 2014/15 season. Throughout his career, the 25-year-old has been deployed in myriad roles in the opposition’s half, predominantly as a left winger of central midfielder. Emery explained during the winter window he was keen to recruit a player capable of switching between positions, and Suarez’s arrival therefore offers competition for several players.
