Luiz was minded to leave the club last January, shortly after Emery’s appointment. Arsenal made three bids for the 25-year-old but Villa stood strong, and Luiz was eventually persuaded to sign a new deal. But, though Luiz says he’s flattered by the speculation, he insists he wants to remain at Villa Park. Aston Villa is a very big club in England, but things weren’t going so well.
