Checking in with a QR code is now a compulsory condition of entry at all at pubs, cafes and restaurants across New South Wales. But what happens to those who don't have a smart phone to scan the code, or to those who did not bring their phone with them? The rapid rise of QR codes - which stands for Quick Response - has proven a major success in the fight against COVID-19. Contact tracers have been far more successful tracking infections by using QR data than by examining the national government-funded COVID-safe app. There are now calls for an Australia-wide QR check-in system that would work with a personally-held scannable card.
