Ashburton's oldest resident set to be farewelledSupplied Rita Turtill, who died on December 18 aged 107, will be farewelled at a memorial service in Ashburton on January 10. For the last few years of her life, Rita Turtill proudly held the title of Ashburton's oldest resident. On January 10 her life will be remembered at a memorial service - a full life, overflowing with family, love and laughter. For the last 11 years of Rita's life, Ashburton rest home Cameron Courts was her home and her daughter Judy Glen said she was happy and well cared for in her twilight years. The couple's son Tyrrell Turtill, was also a well-known racing identity who, along with best friend Gary Mulholland, engineered and raced the controversial Continental Special in the 1960s and 70s.
