KUALA LUMPUR: Key Asian markets eked out some gains early Monday, with Bursa Malaysia coming off the eary lows, on expectations that Democrat Hillary Clinton was seen to be in the lead in the US presdential bid.At 9.32am, the KLCI was up 0.37 of a point or 0.02% to 1,665.75. Turnover was 220.30 million shares valued at RM71.43mil. There were 164 gainers, 167 losers and 240 counters unchanged.Reuters reported Asian shares crept higher and the Mexican peso jumped on Monday as markets widened the odds of a victory by Republican nominee Donald Trump in his US presidential bid as a second debate with Clinton got under way.In commodity markets, oil prices dipped further early Monday as players took profits following a strong rally last week spurred by talk of OPEC output cuts.Benchmark Brent was off 48 cents at US$51.45 a barrel, while U.S. crude eased 49 cents to US$49.33, the wire report said.At Bursa Malaysia, Dutch Lady and BAT added 40 sen each to RM60.40 and RM48.82 in thin trade.Tien Wah extended its gains for the third day after its corporate exercise with British American Tobacco . Poultry company Lay Hong added six sen to RM0.96.Hong Leong Bank rose six sen to RM13.18,However, Genting Bhd fell seven sen to RM7.95, Maxis shed five sen to RM6.14 and Westports four sen lower at RM4.30.Hartalega lost five sen to RM4.69 and Hua Yan shed four sen to RM1.31 after its bonus issue went ex.
