Betting against luxury brands is a dangerous game. No matter how bad things get, the superrich are often happy to bail them out. Troubled British sports-car manufacturer Aston Martin announced a £500 million (about $650 million) cash infusion Friday. Lawrence Stroll, a billionaire motorhead best known for backing U.S. fashion designers Tommy Hilfiger and Michael Kors, is leading a consortium of individual investors that will take a 16.7% stake. The company’s existing anchor investors from Italy and Kuwait will also chip in.
