At Blck VC, Under 30 Investors Frederik Groce And Sydney Sykes Are Driving Venture Capital Forward


Investors Sydney Sykes and Frederik Groce founded Blck VC in 2018 with the goal of supporting and expanding Black representation in the VC industry. Founded in 2018 by investors Frederik Groce and Sydney Sykes, Blck VC isn’t new. Two other Blck VC members — Jackson Cummings, 28, of Salesforce Ventures, and Solomon Hailu, 27, of March Capital — also crack this year’s Under 30 ranks. In the face of such widespread emotion and societal upheaval, the tech and venture capital ecosystems felt detached, removed. The group’s public webinar to share experiences as Black investors and entrepreneurs that month drew more than 4,000 attendees, many of them non-Black investors, reporters and entrepreneurs.
