Secretary-General António Guterres said in a statement. U.N. officials said 53 peacekeepers also were wounded in the attack, and at least five members of Congo’s military were killed. Analysts say there are from 30 to 60 armed groups in eastern Congo. More than 300 U.N. personnel have been killed in Congo since 2001, according to U.N. records.
