UAAP 81 WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALLAteneo secures semis playoffBy The Manila Timeshome/Second Headline/Ateneo secures semis playoffTHE Ateneo Lady Eagles secured at least a playoff for a seat in the semi-finals after making short work of the Far Eastern University Lady Tamaraws, 25-21, 25-10, 25-18, in women’s volleyball of Season 81 of the University Athletics Association of the Philippines (UAAP) on Wednesday. The Lady Eagles, thus far, remain undefeated in the second round, its lone loss coming from archrival, the La Salle Lady Spikers, on opening day. Ateneo also extended its winning streak to nine as it repeated its first round conquest of last year’s runner-up. Ponggay Gaston and Kat Tolentino scored 11 points each and combined for 18 of the Lady Eagles’ 35 attack points. Gaston added 10 excellent receptions while Deanna Wong tallied 30 excellent sets with four markers and 12 digs for Ateneo.
