While admitting that the Plaza Miranda bombing attack had pinpointed Sison as the mastermind, Atienza said there has been no full conclusion of the investigation. Atienza said the Plaza Miranda bombing on August 21, 1971 triggered the declaration of Martial Law by then President Ferdinand E. Marcos that resulted to the defeat of democracy. Himself a Plaza Miranda survivor, Atienza reminded the nation of the Filipino’s continuing struggle for genuine freedom and democracy. “Five presidents have come and gone but to this date, the real masterminds and plotters of the Plaza Miranda bombing and Ninoy’s killing have not been brought to justice.
