Lord’s Taverners UK is Britain’s largest sporting charity for disabled and disadvantaged children and they reached out to Atlantics Rugby Club in Hermanus by donating sport equipment to this club. The donation came about after Michael Charton proposed that the organisation donate some equipment to a local rugby club from the proceeds of an event they hosted. David Ralph of the South African chapter of Lord’s Taverners then met with Isak Henecke and Marquine Lukas of Atlantics, who gave him a wish list of equipment the club needed. Morné du Plessis also signed a match ball that was presented to Henecke,” Ralph explained. Lukas thanked Lord’s Taverners for the donation and said: “Atlantics Rugby Club appreciates the kind gesture, it is of great value and will make a huge difference to our club and the community.”
