Following the model that Tesla used to drum up interest and commitment for its Model 3, Audi has begun accepting $1,000 reservation fees for delivery of the 2019 Audi e-tron crossover SUV. A new generation of Audi’s quattro all-wheel drive is employed in e-tron, and is standard equipment on all trim levels. The battery system in e-tron consists of 36 cell modules in square aluminum housings, each approximately the size of a shoe box. Audi has an arrangement with Amazon Home Services that will allow e-tron buyers to have a home charging station installed through the online retail giant’s channels.
