Australia opposition leader promises 'real' change at official campaign launch

At the official launch of the Australian Labour Party’s election campaign, Shorten urged supporters to vote for ‘a real’ change and end governing by the center-right Liberal-National coalition in power since 2013. Recent polls have shown that Labour’s lead has diminished to 51 per cent over 49 per cent, compared to 54 per cent to 46 per cent in March. The Labour Party has promised to outspend the coalition on healthcare by A$8 billion. Shorten said his government would deliver universal pre-school and kindergarten for all children aged 3 and 4. “We are going to put free back into ‘free education’ in this country,” he said.
