Despite lousy reviews and some shine rubbing off the once-gigantic Johnny Depp franchise, Pirates 5 earned $177 million domestic and $795 million worldwide. For better or worse, the box office fortunes for Avengers: Endgame should be affected by this leak somewhere on the scale from slim to none. General audiences will go to see Avengers: Endgame both to see how the story plays out and to see how the story plays out. It’s not just “What is this movie about?” but “How is it about it?” People will see Avengers: Endgame because they want to. I think Avengers: Endgame can survive a few minutes becoming available just a week before its global launch.
