CAIRO – 17 March 2021: Egypt’s Minister of Culture Inas Abdel Dayem decided to launch the activities of the 23rd Egyptian National Film Festival, organized by the Cultural Development Fund sector during the current month of March. The festival was decided to be held again this year after coming to a halt for two editions. Head of the Cultural Development Fund Sector Fathy Abdel Wahab said that the renowned film critic Kamal Ramzy is supervising the completion of the new edition, which was prepared by the late director Samir Seif. Abdel Wahab pointed out that the 23rd Egyptian National Film Festival includes long and short fictional films, as well as documentary and animation films that were submitted for participation in 2018, 2019 and 2020, amounting to 170 filmsAccording to Abdel Wahab, the 23rd edition of the festival is limited to the views of the two jury panels only, without public screenings. The award ceremony will be held on March 23 at Al-Gomhoriya Theater.
