General News of Tuesday, 10 February 2026Source: www.ghanaweb.comThe Council of Zongo Chiefs in Ayawaso East Constituency has warned the leadership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) against annulling the party’s Ayawaso East parliamentary primaries which was held on February 7, 2026, urging that such a move could trigger tension within the constituency. The caution follows calls by the NDC Majority Caucus in Parliament for the termination of the primaries, which was won by former Ghanaian High Commissioner to Nigeria, Mohammed Baba Jamal Ahmed, because of allegations of vote-buying. During an interview, the chiefs noted that the election outcome reflected the will of delegates and should be respected. Had it been another person who won, we, the chiefs, would have said the same," he added. The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has also announced investigations into alleged vote-buying and related corrupt practices during both the NDC Ayawaso East parliamentary primaries and the New Patriotic Party’s presidential primaries.
