BAE hopes Turkish jet deal will boost trade links


The Turkish Stars, the Turkish Air Force aerobatic team. Ian King, chief executive of BAE Systems was in the capital with Theresa May to sign an agreement to collaborate on the initial phase of the country’s first home-built fighter jet, TFX, with Turkish Aerospace Industries. The deal follows a study between BAE and TAI which began two years ago and lays the groundwork for what Mr King called a “deeper defence partnership”. BAE was in an “excellent position to contribute technical and engineering expertise and experience of managing complex projects to this key Turkish programme”, he said.
