Prior to the issuing of the circular, the age limit of 65 only applied to chief executive officers and managing directors of banks. This restriction has now been extended to all contractual employees. In a separate circular, the central bank also made post-graduate degrees mandatory for appointment to the CEO post of any bank. It further said anyone who achieved third division results at any level of education would not be eligible for the post of CEO at banks.
