The BBC has apologised and blamed “human error” after using a clip of the basketball player LeBron James in its coverage of the death of the retired NBA star Kobe Bryant. Bryant, considered one of the greatest basketball players of all time, was killed alongside his 13-year-old daughter and seven others when their helicopter crashed in southern California. His death at the age of 41 has devastated fans around the world. Large crowds gathered outside the Staples Centre, home of his former team, the Los Angeles Lakers, to pay tribute. During Sunday night’s News At Ten, the segment on Bryant mistakenly included footage of James, another basketball icon who also plays for the Lakers.
