BGB detains 15 university students at the border


Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has detained 15 university students from Kashinagar border in Brahmanbaria for suspicious movement. Around 11:20am Thursday, the young men were spotted moving around suspiciously by BGB patrol at the Kashinagar border in Bijaynagar, about 1km south of 12 Border Guard Battalion’s Singarbil outpost and detained. In primary interrogation, the young men said Southeast University students Jayeem Khan, Mehedi Hasan, Ashik Miah, Tarek Hossain, AKM Salehin, Md Rabiul, Junid Hossain and Abul Hasnat, Yahia Hossain Sajjad from American International University Bangladesh, Niaz Ahmed Tushar from Prime Asia University, Md Saiful Islam from Northern University, Alamgir Hossain from Uttara University, Md Arif from Shyamoli Polytechnical Institute and Md Imon from Brahmanbaria Government College. The station’s Officer-in-Charge Ali Arshad said they had been able to ascertain that the men went to the border area looking for illegal drugs. BGB later handed the men over to Bijaynagar police station.
