BMA Drainage and Sewage Department director Sompong Wiangkaew Friday said tides and continuous rain could pose flood risks to riverside communities outside the barriers' coverage, so the sandbags would be piled up at the barrier gaps and reinforce the barriers. He said city officials had lowered main canals on the Thon Buri side of the city to reduce negative impacts on flood-prone areas and on traffic flows, while they had replaced old water pumps with new ones at the pump station in front of Wat Arun Ratchawararam.
