With an objective of decentralisation of solid waste management (SWM) process in Mumbai, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has reserved 18 plots as SWM facility centres across the city. The plots will be utilised as waste segregation centres and dry waste management processing centres. The SWM centres are reserved under city's Development Plan (DP) 2034 which was passed by corporation on Tuesday. But the waste segregation centres proposed at A ward, G/South and G/North ward are not reserved under DP. The plot size of these waste segregation centres is in the range of 110.37 sq m to 3612.67 sq m, and they have received budget provisions of Rs 3.85 crores.
