BSMRSTU teacher quits in the face of protest

BSMRSTU Registrar Prof Dr Nurunnabi told Dhaka Tribune that Parvez submitted his letter stepping down from the chairman post at 4pm yesterday and the letter would be sent to the acting vice-chancellor (VC) of the university. Assistant Prof Parvez is also the nephew of former VC Khondoker Md Nasiruddin, who also resigned last month after weeks of student protest. We will continue our protest until he also resigns from the department as an assistant professor.'' Later, he was appointed as a lecturer in the department, despite having a second class in honours and masters. He was promoted to assistant professor and made the department chairman within one and a half years, even though he was not qualified, alleged the students.
