File photo shows the toll booth of Bangabandhu Bridge UNBTransport owners demanded a safe and extortion free transport system across BangladeshLeaders of the Bangladesh Sarak Paribahan Malik-Sramik Oikya League (BSPMSOL) have urged the government to conduct drives in the transport sector as well in order to put an end to corruption and harassment by godfathers and police. They came up with the call at a press conference, held at the Jatiya Press Club in Dhaka on Tuesday. BSPMSOL member secretary Ismail Hossain Bachchu read out a written statement at the press conference demanding a safe and extortion-free transport system across Bangladesh. "We transport owners, have been really worried regarding rampant extortion by godfathers, and corruption and harassment by police on roads and highways across the country," said Ismail Hossain. BSPMSOL convener SM Shah Alam also was present at the program.
