Reacting to comments by the Minister of Food and Agriculture, Eric Opoku, that there is food abundance in Ghana, Oppong Nkrumah argued that many farmers have yet to feel the impact of the interventions being touted by the state. He emphasised that beyond public statements, practical and measurable action is needed to protect farmers’ livelihoods and ensure long-term food security. He noted that in several farming communities, including parts of his Ofoase-Ayirebi constituency, farmers are struggling to secure buyers for their produce. As a result, large quantities of food remain unsold, increasing the risk of post-harvest losses and worsening the financial burden on producers.
