Chauvin is facing charges including second-degree murder in a case that has sparked global unrest about social injustice and police brutality. The other three officers — J. Kueng, Thomas Lane and Tou Thao — were charged with aiding and abetting. Floyd’s death has ignited calls to reform the Minneapolis Police Department, which community activists have long accused of entrenched racial discrimination and brutality.
